Sohail questions Pak coaching staff's ability

Sohail questions Pak coaching staff's ability

Karachi, Aug.29 (ANI): Disappointed over Pakistan letting England off the hook in the fourth Test at Lord’s, former skipper Aamir Sohail has slammed the present coaching and support staff, saying they are unaware about their own job.

“Where is the coaching and support staff ? At times it seems they don’t know anything at all about their jobs. In fact, I don’t think they know about their job descriptions,” Sohail said.

Pakistan had England reduced to 50 for five, but an amazing turnaround saw the home side posting a mammoth total of 446 in the first innings thanks to career best knocks from Jonathan Trott (184) and James Broad (169).

Pointing out several flaws in the team’s strategy and player’s technique, the former left-hand opener questioned why the coaching staff has failed to resurrect the persisting problems.

“I don’t know what is happening in the team. Where is the support staff? What were they doing when so many blunders were being made on the second day of the Test? Why didn’t they guide the captain and bowlers?” The Daily Times quoted Sohail, as saying.

“Wahab Riaz has a problem with his bowling-arm wrist that he does not hold it in one place and sprays the ball all over the place. Saeed Ajmal kept on bowling round the wicket to Stuart Broad. Mohammad Asif was made to bowl from just one end. Who is responsible for this?” he added.

Sohail raised questions over head coach Waqar Younis and batting coach Ijaz Ahmed’s ability as a coach and said they have failed to lift the team’s performance in the ongoing series.

“Success has many fathers but defeat none. I have respect for Waqar Younis and Ijaz Ahmed as cricketers as I have played with them. But I have serious doubts about their coaching credentials. Unfortunately in this series, when the team has lost direction, the coaches have failed to guide them in the right direction,” he added. (ANI)
