Stuart ecstatic for being first Broad on Lord's honours board

Stuart ecstatic for being first Broad on Lord's honours board

London, Aug 28(ANI): England bowler Stuart Broad could not resist having a dig at father Chris after his maiden Test century helped his team recover in the final Test against Pakistan at Lord’s.

England was deep in trouble at 102-7 on the second day when Broad came to the crease.

However, Broad’s gutsy unbeaten 125 and Jonathan Trott’s 149 not out saw England reach 346-7 at stumps.

Broad’s father, former England opener Chris, never managed a century on home soil.

The 24-year-old’s achievement will be recognized on the Lord’s Test honours board, for all those who make a hundred or claim five wickets there.

“It’s a feeling I’ll remember for the rest of my life, and it’s great to be the first Broad up on that honours board. His best was 86 at Lord’s,” The Sun quoted Broad, as saying.

“You always dream of Test match centuries and if there was any ground to get it on, it would have to be Lord’s,” he added.

He further said that he would ask Paul Collingwood to take him to ‘the most expensive restaurant’ in London to celebrate the milestone.

“As I went out Paul Collingwood shouted: ‘If you’re still batting by the end I’ll take you anywhere in London you want to go. ‘I need to find the most expensive restaurant I can!’” Broad said.

England currently leads the four-match Test series 2-1. (ANI)
