BCCI to use body doubles of cricketers to save them from burning out

BCCI to use body doubles of cricketers to save them from burning out

Mumbai. With a depleted team traveling to West Indies and a threat of low television ratings looming large due to too much of cricket of late, BCCI has decided to use substitute cricketers who look like popular Indian cricketers in their physical appearance and who can bat and bowl a bit.

These substitute cricketers would join the Indian team in West Indies to fill in the void created by the absence of some of the senior players.

“We had summoned the lookalikes of Tendulkar and Sehwag and we are currently training them to bat and bowl like the ‘original’ players,” a BCCI source informed Faking News, “Of course it’s not easy but we can manage it. Our primary concern is that fans get to see their favorite cricketers on ground and on television for every match we schedule.”

BCCI decided to use body doubles after it realized that many cricketers were picking up grievous injuries while playing too many matches back to back. In fact, not just cricketers, many administrators, commentators, members of support staff, and even fans have been complaining of fatigue lately.

The only person allegedly not affected by all these was Navjot Singh Siddhu, but the board decided to act.

Although BCCI initially thought of changing its itinerary, which was called inhuman by Wasim Akram, some of the IPL team owners suggested the board to check out the tried and tested Bollywood solution of using body doubles.

“Many of my fans still believe that the real Barack Obama starred in My Name Is Khan towards the climax of the movie,” Kolkata Knight Riders owner Shah Rukh Khan is reported to have said while trying to convince the BCCI secretary N Srinivasan for using body double of Gautam Gambhir, who aggravated his shoulder injury during the IPL.

“The line between a Bollywood fan and cricket fan is blurring fast; they won’t even know that Gauti is holidaying back home. Yes, the body double could get out without scoring, but who cares about a match in West Indies these days?” King Khan is reported to have argued.

Sources say that at least a dozen lookalikes of cricketers like Tendulkar, Sehwag, Yuvraaj, and Gambhir have been taking part in “auditions” at the BCCI office in the past few days and the board could soon finalize a couple of them capable of telling the difference between West Indies and Kenyan cricketers.

When contacted for comments, BCCI secretary dismissed the reports as figment of imagination of Lalit Modi.

Quote of the Moment

Everyone in my team, everyone in Kings XI Punjab as a brand, plays with utmost integrity and if any print or TV media tries to write differently or say something differently about my team, then I will be very disappointed - David Hussey
