Ishant Sharma fined for bowling better than accepted levels

Kochi. IPL Governing Council has fined fast bowler Ishant Sharma for bowling with an intensity that was way too above the “accepted levels” in Twenty20 cricket. Ishant took 5 wickets after conceding just 12 runs in the 3 overs he bowled in yesterday’s match between Deccan Chargers and Kochi Tuskers Kerala, which Kochi lost by 55 runs, mainly due to the devastating spell by the lanky fast bowler.

“He has been fined 500% of his match fee for treating Kochi Twenty20 as a Perth test match,” IPL Chairman Chirayu Amin confirmed, “He has been further warned not to repeat his performance in the rest of the tournament, following which he might be banned for a few matches.”

Although Mr. Amin or any other IPL functionary didn’t specify the rules under which the fast bowler was fined, sources suggest that Ishant’s performance went against the “spirit of the game”.

“Twenty20 is a batsman’s game,” said Anil Hazare, a cricket analyst, “Much like lawmaking is a parliamentarian’s game. A bowler is like a common citizen; he has to play along, even though technically he is at equal footing. Just like there are problems when a citizen starts taking part in lawmaking activity actively, as happened in Lokpal case, there are bound be problems if a bowler starts taking part in the Twenty20 game actively, as happened in the yesterday’s match.”

Hazare agreed with the IPL Chairman that Ishant should have waited for test matches as citizens should wait for elections.

Sources further inform Faking News that IPL Governing Council has ordered a probe into the statement issued by Ishant Sharma, where he had credited Indian fast bowler Zaheer Khan for improvement in his bowling.

If the “charges” are found to be true, Zaheer could be put under probation while Ishant could be forced to learn a few bowling tips from Ramesh Powar.

Everyone in my team, everyone in Kings XI Punjab as a brand, plays with utmost integrity and if any print or TV media tries to write differently or say something differently about my team, then I will be very disappointed - David Hussey
